uncle. is my first drama and was the most logistically challenging shoot of my career (so far.) This father/son tale about communication is told through three car rides over ten years, so we had to simulate a traffic jam in 100+ degree heat, make the actors look older when the story called for it, AND make sure that what we were shooting was compelling.

uncle. screened virtually at the 2020 New York Indian Film Festival and the 2020 International Film Festival of South Asia - Toronto. The writer Kahlil Maskati and I even got to participate with other filmmakers from NYIFF in a panel moderated by Cinema Escapist, where we talked about the film and its themes that are near and dear to our hearts: communication, mental health, and men opening up.
